Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence Welcomes New President and Board Members
Michael B. Feinman, of Andover, was elected as the new board president at the recent annual meeting of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence. In addition, Gail McNaughton of Andover and Tom Burkardt of Rye, N.H. were appointed to the board.
According to BGCL Executive Director Markus Fischer, board members serve as the governing body of the club, providing guidance and oversight to ensure the ability to provide critical programs focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement for more than 4,400 youth members.
“We are grateful for the important contributions of time, broad experience, and perspective by these Merrimack Valley leaders for the benefit of our kids,” Fischer said.
Studio 8 Gallery Opens in Downtown Newburyport
Studio 8 Gallery is now open for business at 1 Merrimac Street, Unit #8, in downtown Newburyport across from Waterfront Park. Business hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours during city events and special occasions.
Though the doors are already open, the gallery’s official Grand Opening Celebration will take place on Saturday, April 22, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a special “Meet the Artists” reception between 4 and 6 p.m. as Studio 8 Gallery joins the first 2017 Newburyport Art Walk.
The gallery overlooks Waterfront Park and features a curated collection of original fine art; dramatic seascapes, representational oils, impressionistic interpretations of nature, abstracts, ceramic sculpture, fine art photography and more. The seven artists currently showing work in Studio 8 Gallery are Nancy Cahan, Rosalie Cuticchia, Brent Rotsko, Lully Schwartz, Robin Thornhill, Norma Torti and owner Karen Lynch.
The Majestic Theatre and Ted Herbert Music School Celebrate Grand Opening
Earlier this month, a grand opening celebration was held for the new location of The Majestic Theatre and Ted Herbert Music School, which are now located at 880 Page Street in Manchester, N.H. Live music by students, instructors and actors, light refreshments and tours were offered to upwards of 200 patrons throughout the afternoon, and Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas dropped by for a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
The Majestic Theatre and Ted Herbert Music School’s relocation was made possible by the generous donations of individual community members and the Norwin S. and Elizabeth N. Bean Foundation.
Grover Honored With Kiwanis Award
Tim Grover, founder and executive vice-president of Madison Security Group and the Megan House Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to establishing long-term care facilities to women battling addictions, was awarded the Thomas G. Kelakos Community Spirit Award by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell on Thursday evening at Lenzi’s in Dracut. Read more about Megan’s House here.
MOVERS & SHAKERS
Jessica Wrigley is the newest sales associate at MTM Insurance. She is a graduate of the Girard School of Business at Merrimack College, where she obtained a degree in Business Administration and Management as a member of the Sigma Iota Epsilon Honor Society. She began her insurance career seven years ago with Liberty Mutual Insurance, where she earned her Certified Insurance Service Representative designation. Wrigley has been a resident of North Andover for several years, and volunteers her time at several charitable organizations throughout the Merrimack Valley.
Runny Huoth has been promoted to the position of assistant treasurer – branch manager at Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. Huoth, a Lowell resident, has been an employee of the credit union since 2004. She began her career as a Teller at the Dracut Lakeview Avenue branch and worked her way to earn multiple titles, including Member Service Representative, Senior Member Service Representative and her previous title as Assistant Branch Manager. In her new role as Branch Manager, she will oversee the daily operations of the Credit Union’s Tyngsborough branch. Huoth holds diplomas from the Center for Financial Training for Advanced Financial Services and Consumer Lending.
Sheila Fortin has assumed the role of vice president – operational risk management at Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. Fortin joined the credit union in 2004 and served in her previous position as assistant vice president – corporate security since 2008. Her responsibilities in her new role include managing risk as it relates to cybersecurity and third-party vendors, information and physical security, as well as incident response. A Lawrence resident, Fortin holds a bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College and is currently pursuing the designation of a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
Rachel Polizzotti is the newest member of the Commercial Lines department at Insurance Center of New England. She brings seven years of experience in the insurance industry to ICNE as the new business development specialist based in our Westford office. Rachel will be focusing on business insurance and health insurance within the agency. Polizzotti is very eager to get to know the members of the community and is already forming relationships through the Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce, the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce.
