Wright Tavern – Walking Tours
August 11 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Every Saturday, starting this July 14 through September 29 the Concord Museum will be providing new programming and guided tours from historic Wright Tavern through downtown Concord. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the significant role the Wright Tavern played in the events of the Revolution, from the election of John Hancock as president of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress to the visits from the King’s army during the 1775 battle of Concord and Lexington. All Walking Tours will be led by a Concord Museum educator and highlight two pivotal moments in Concord’s (and America’s) history. Participants will have an opportunity to discover the lives of Concord’s famous authors including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Thoreau, and Louisa May Alcott with the “Emerson’s Circle: Concord in the 1800’s” tour. “At the Center of the Revolution” visitors will walk from the Tavern to the North Bridge and learn about the events leading up to April 19, 1775, and the first battle of the American Revolution.
