Blochaus Art Gallery Opens in Newburyport

Founded by contemporary artist Markus Sebastiano, Blochaus Art Gallery was established in 2017 within the old Canal Street industrial mills in Lawrence, Mass. In 2013, the space housed an incubator-style setting for artists, creatives, furniture makers, photographers, fashion designers, writers and more. Eventually, it evolved into a fully functional hidden gallery showcasing mostly New England-based contemporary artists as well as internationally recognized artists.
During their time in Lawrence, Blochaus held many art shows and became curators of art in some of Boston’s notable businesses like The W Hotel, Red Bull headquarters, Yotel, Lululemon and more.
In early 2020, Sebastiano caught word that the Canal Street building had been sold and knew it would soon be turned over into condos. After searching for a potential new location where Blochaus could become an actual retail contemporary art gallery, he found a perfect industrial-style building located at 74 Water Street in Newburyport.
This new location will bring a fresh contemporary showcase of art to the surrounding community. Blochaus will feature original works of art as well as art-inspired goods, limited edition prints, sculpture and vintage selections.
