Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 7/22/21
ONE: This Friday marks the beginning of Lowell Restaurant Week! This week will spotlight Lowell as a unique dining destination boasting a variety of cuisines with a global appeal. TWO: Don’t miss a live streamed performance by Maria Frattura and Bobby Stanton at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts. Frattura is a jazz and pop vocal stylist and has sung with well-known Boston-area a cappella groups and local bands. Stanton is an accomplished musician and head of the guitar department at Berklee School of Music. On Saturday, July 24, they will play an assortment of sophisticated pop and jazz tunes. THREE: The Parish Center for the Arts in Westford, Mass., will be hosting The Joy Reo Trio this Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Joy Reo Trio is a cabaret jazz band that features soulful, sassy and classy songs that range from 1920s show tunes to 1940s jazz standards to 2010s pop hits. The trio, comprises Joy Reo on vocals, Diane Heffner on clarinet and saxophone, and Molly Flannery on piano. Click here to secure your tickets for this performance.
FOUR: Haverhill’s Museum of Printing will be hosting a special presentation called “Atoms to Bits” on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The event will feature printed products that were popular before the digital era, such as road maps, Yellow Pages and printed correspondence. FIVE: Spend your Sunday evening enjoying live music “On The Common” at the North Andover Town Common. This Sunday’s concert will feature White Street Band, who will perform an energetic blend of rock and blues music that the whole family will enjoy. SIX: Attention local bibliophiles, there’s a new bookstore coming to Lowell! The grand opening of lala books is happening at 10 a.m. this Friday at 189 Market St. in Lowell. lala books will be a new spot to browse titles old and new, meet new friends, explore ideas, share stories, and more. SEVEN: If you have yet to check out the Kerouac Park concert series presented by Fresh Beets, don’t miss the final concert of the series happening this Sunday at 1 p.m. This weekend’s concert will feature indie/punk band Castling, singer/songwriter Andrew Marshall, and many more. EIGHT: TONIGHT! Interested in spending an evening outside while enjoying throwbacks? Head down to Castle Hill on the Crane Estate in Ipswich, Mass., where you can catch The Hofners: An Evening of Beatlemania live. Pack a picnic dinner, stroll the grounds and explore the newly restored gardens while you enjoy a night of live music on the estate. BONUS: Seth Meyers, the Emmy award-winning writer and host of “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” will be performing stand-up comedy live at the Palace Theatre on Friday, Aug. 27. The Haverhill Farmers Market is back for its 43rd season and running now through Saturday, Oct. 30, at 51 Merrimack St. The market operates every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., selling farm-fresh fruits, herbs, eggs, vegetables, delicious baked goods, hummus, local wines, meads, honey, fresh breads, handmade soaps, doggie treats, and much more.
