Gov. Charlie Baker Releases Guidelines For Mass. Restaurants
Today, Mass. restaurants were told that they can begin plans to reopen under the guidelines of Gov. Charlie Baker’s new “MA CODIV-19 Checklist.” The new protocol stresses outdoor seating, but indoor seating will be permitted under tight restrictions and bar areas will remain closed.
Restaurants are included in the second phase of the governor’s reopening process, although specific dates have yet to be determined. A start date for Phase 2 all depends on public health data collected from June 1 through June 6. Currently, the earliest possible date for Phase 2 to begin is June 8.
The checklist requires restaurants to operate as much as possible through outdoor table service, but restaurants will be allowed to utilize strictly-limited indoor seating some time after Phase 2 is carried out. All tables must be spaced at least 6 feet apart, and table capacity is set at six people. Along with this, Baker emphasizes the importance of standard health precautions such as wearing face masks, providing sanitation stations and promoting social distancing when possible.
