What’s New at Nichols Village?
Anchored upon a hilltop in Groveland and surrounded by over 90-acres of woodlands and fields, you’ll discover Nichols Village, a unique independent living community where active adults 62 years of age and better have chosen to make their home.
“Over the past several years, the demand for independent living accommodations has steadily increased and is evident in our lengthy Nichols Village waitlist,” states marketing director Brenda Burkholder. In effort to accommodate this high demand, the Nichols Village board of directors made the decision to expand and build a brand-new addition, attached to the existing Woodburn Manor.
In December 2019, after 18 months of construction, Woodburn Manor South opened its 21 new apartments with Nichols Village now offering 99 apartments and 16 cottages. All feature ample amounts of comfortable living space, one-level living, an abundance of bright, natural lighting and quintessential countryside views. Of the 21 new apartments, 15 have already been occupied with 22 new residents now living the comfortable, maintenance-free Nichols Village lifestyle.
All apartments are of various sizes, have fully applianced kitchens and provide generous storage space with master bedroom walk-in closets, coat and linen closets, and extra storage units. Additionally, every apartment is assigned one covered parking space. Cottages feature an open concept with beautiful kitchens, three-sided gas fireplaces, attached garages and private patios for relaxing and entertaining. Biweekly housekeeping and semiannual deep cleaning are offered in both apartments and cottages as well as convenient washer and dryers and all exterior and interior maintenance.
Residents may choose from two dining venues and have a traditional sit-down restaurant style experience or a casual tavern experience. Both venues feature warm and friendly atmospheres with meal choices ranging from simple to gourmet.
Residents enjoy social and cultural events orchestrated by the activities director such as trips to the music theater, excursions to view eagles along the Merrimack, art presentations by staff from Peabody Essex Museum or Irish music with Brian Corcoran in the new auditorium. Complimentary van transportation is also offered to the grocery store, bank and pharmacy. Examples of active resident-run activities include community gardens, a workshop, knitting group, community games and resident council.
The wellness coordinator provides a variety of fitness and wellness programs. The staff “are all about encouraging residents to be, and stay active so they can remain independent,” says Gina Velonis, the wellness coordinator at Nichols Village. Woodburn Manor South offers a new state-of-the-art fitness center with a cardio and strength training gym, an aquatic center with heated pool and spa, and a fitness studio for yoga, strength training, meditation and dance classes. A well-appointed auditorium and well-stocked tavern are among the new offerings in the new Woodburn Manor South addition.
When you make the choice to live at Nichols Village, you commit to an independent lifestyle that promises to maximize your fitness and wellness goals. In support of your commitment, Nichols Village provides a Fitness Center and an optional home care program located within the new Woodburn Manor South addition. Residents may contract directly with the home care program to provide professional skilled and supportive services within the comfort of their own apartments or cottages. These services may be used on a fee-for-service basis where services are only paid for by the resident if needed.
