ONE: Don’t miss Wine Connextion’s Whiskey tasting event this Friday. Sample 25 different whiskeys from around the world, including Irish whiskeys, single malt scotches, Japanese whisky, bourbon and rye. Experts will be on hand answering questions.

TWO: March 12 marks the 98th birthday of Jack Kerouac. Navigation Brewing Co. will be hosting “Happy Birthday Jack” this Saturday, and they’ll be featuring the music of David Greenwood, intermittent readings of Kerouac selections by members of Lowell Celebrates Kerouac!, and headlining reader, Lowell’s own Stephen O’Connor, who will be reciting passages from his newest novel “This Is No Time to Quit Drinking: Teacher Burnout and the Irish Powers.”
The entire complex will be open, too, for Western Avenue Studios’ Open Studios from 12 to 5 p.m. Bobby & Jack’s Memphis Barbecue food truck will be on site to appease the hungry and Navigation Brewing Co. will be taking care of quenching thirst with its latest lineup of craft beers.

THREE: Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring Trivia Night is another great night of music, trivia, prizes and fun at the Rex Theatre. Say goodbye to winter and hello to spring with a spring-themed evening. Enjoy live music, contests, prizes and more this Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rex Theatre.
FOUR: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with this award-winning, Belfast-based band that will lead you on a musical journey of music and song through the full range of the Irish tradition. Réalta will be performing at Belleville Roots Music Series in Newburyport this Saturday, from 8 to 10 p.m.
FIVE: Loading Dock Arts, Inc. is hosting their third educational series which kicked off in December 2019 and runs through May 2020. Western Avenue Inspires features a series of six creative professionals speaking about their ideas, passions and recent work.
Dance artist, educator and facilitator Betsy Miler will be featured with a talk about her American/woman project, which explores, through a dancer’s lens, possibilities for what it means to be a woman in America today. The project involves collaborations with women dance artists in all 50 states of the country, and you can join in this Saturday at 11 a.m.
SIX: John Lodge, renowned bass player, songwriter and vocalist of The Moody Blues, is bringing his Classic Moody Blues solo tour to Lexington for the very first time. The tour is offering classic and alternative rock fans a unique opportunity to experience the passion and energy of the Moody Blues music live.

EIGHT: The Craft Ensemble will perform ‘London Calling: Music for Strings and Oboe’ on Sunday, March 8, at 4 p.m. at the Unitarian Church; this is the final concert in the 2020 Jean C. Wilson Music Series. Favorite collaborator oboist Nancy Dimock will join The Craft Ensemble’s core quartet for a program including music by Sir Arthur Bliss, Benjamin Britten, Elizabeth Maconchy and Emily Doolittle.
