Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 2/6/20
ONE: Katherine DiSavino’s Things My Mother Taught Me provides a humorous, generational look at relationships and how parents pass their best lessons on to their children without even meaning to. This romantic adult comedy will be coming to New Hampshire this weekend at Manchester’s Executive Court Dining Facility. The performances run Friday through Sunday, as part of the Majestic Theatre’s “Dinner and a Show” program.

TWO: Join Mistral for their annual tribute to love, as they offer up the ever-beloved Brahms Liebeslieder Waltzes (Love Song Waltzes) with a quartet of acclaimed singers and two dynamic pianists sharing one keyboard. The second half of the program will feature a selection of beguiling opera arias by Mozart, Lehar and Rossini that will make you laugh one moment and weep the next.

THREE: This Saturday, learn the basics of glass blowing and create a beautiful heart-shaped piece of glass. Mill City Glass Works will be hosting a Make Your Own Heart workshop from 12 to 5 p.m.With the help of an instructor, you can add color, turn the pipe, blow and create your own unique glass heart. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and a beautiful piece of glasswork is a perfect gift for your loved ones.

FOUR: For the second year in a row, Georgetown’s Camp Denison will be hosting their Winter Wilderness Festival. Great for families with young children, this free event features a plethora of fun and exciting activities like sledding, ice skating, fire-building lessons, hiking and more!

SIX: The combined harmonies and original songs of Graham Russell & Russell Hitchcock took the music charts by storm in the 1970s and 80s, blazing an unprecedented path of live shows in parts of the world previously unknown to pop music. EIGHT: Most Lawrencians know about Thelma Todd, Lawrence’s ill-fated Hollywood star. But Frank Lackteen, a Lebanese-American from Lawrence, had a five-decade career in the movies. Hosted by Friends of the Lawrence Heritage State Park, Lawrence Goes to Hollywood, 2.0 explores Frank Lackteen’s life and film career. Film historian Omar Mouallen will share his deep research on Lackteen, who happens to be his ancestor.
This free event will be taking place at the Lawrence Heritage State Park this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Free popcorn and refreshments included.
