Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 12/26/19
ONE: Witness and experience the magic of thousands of twinkling lights during the Merrimack Brewery Lights. Running thought Dec. 29, guests are invited to marvel as the brewery is turned into a remarkable holiday experience with something for everyone, including a Kids Zone with plenty of fun activities.
Brewery Lights is a family-friendly event, open to all ages. Guests can attend every Thursday and Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.
TWO: Celebrating 15 years as a stand up comic, Bob Marley is one of the hottest and most sought-after comedians in the country. He has been featured in his own special on Comedy Central, and is one of the few comics to do the complete late night television circuit: Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn.
On Dec. 26, you can see this veteran comedian take stage at Sailsbury’s Blue Ocean Music Hall. He will be performing sets at 4, 6:30 and 9 p.m.
THREE: Legendary New Hampshire drumming group Recycled Percussion is back in the Granite State on Friday, Dec. 27, through Saturday, Jan. 4, to celebrate and rock the Palace Theatre in Manchester.
You may have seen them impressing the judges on America’s Got Talent, or you may have even seen them perform in Las Vegas when they opened the 2017 Super Bowl or on their new TV show Chaos & Kindness. Visit here to see a full list of their performance schedule.
FOUR: Make your own magic wand at Lawrence’s Firefly Community Center. Hosted by art therapist Samantha Reis, this event will allow participants to pick out wood, learn wood carving techniques and make their own magic wands.
The event is open to anyone 13 or older, and will take place on Dec. 27 at 4:30 p.m.
FIVE: Improve your physical and mental health by joining a free drop-in tai chi class at the Newburyport Public Library. Barb Tindall will lead the class in tai chi and qigong in the form of Wu Dang, as taught by Daoist Monk Xuan Yun.
Newcomers are always welcomed and are encouraged to attend the 10 a.m. beginners class, and for those who have experience practicing tai chi, the 9 a.m. class will provide a more advanced session.
Sessions take place every Friday morning.
SIX: Those looking to de-stress after the holidays are welcomed to join Jian Chen for the Mindful Flow and Tea Ceremony. This one-hour class will emphasize breath work, mindfulness and simplicity.
The class will be followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.
You can attend the Mindful Flow and Tea Ceremony on Dec. 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Sutra Studio in Lowell.
SEVEN: Grab your friends and unleash your inner artist at Original Paint Nite; the theme is “Snow Storm in Nashua.” You’ll go from a blank canvas to a masterpiece of your own, with plenty of laughs (and maybe a few drinks) along the way. Guided by a talented and entertaining artist, you’ll be amazed at what you create, and how much fun you have doing it.
Original Paint Nite is hosted by Yaymaker Nashua, N.H. and will take place at Martha’s Exchange Restaurant and Brewery, on Dec. 29, at 6:30 p.m.
EIGHT: Stop by The Stevens-Coolidge Place from Monday, Dec. 30 to Sunday, Jan. 12 to get a jump start on those 2020 resolutions; it’s the New Year’s Resolution Scavenger Hunt! Just inside the white gate at the front door of the house, you’ll find a scavenger hunt list on the brick patio to get you started exploring all that 2020 has to offer. On the sheet, you’ll find a list of 15 common resolutions, turned into a call to action that will take you through the property. Borrow one and find what’s in store for you in the new year! This activity is suitable for all ages and is best completed in groups of two or more. Get outside and explore this winter!
