Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 12/12/19
ONE: The radiant characters of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice,” who enchanted audiences last year in “Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley,” return to the Merrimack Repertory Theatre stage with an entirely new holiday tale. As the events of Miss Bennet unfold upstairs at Pemberley, the servants below find themselves in the midst of a scandal; an unwelcome visitor has stumbled into the kitchen in the middle of the night – Mr. Darcy’s nemesis and Lydia’s incorrigible husband: Mr. Wickham. Sound interesting? Check out Jenn Lucey’s review on our website.
The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley will be showing at the Merrimack Repertory Theatre though Dec. 22. For a complete list of showtimes or to purchase tickets, visit here.
TWO: Today, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., acoustic trio Ruby and The Groove will host a video release party for their song “Let the Music Play” at Odd Fellows in downtown Nashua. “Let the Music Play” is a dedication song to Nashua with a video that captures the essence of the downtown area. If you are a patron or resident of Nashua, or if you are just a fan of great, local music, you won’t want to miss this moment.
THREE: This weekend, Northern Essex Community College (NECC) will once again deliver a spectacular perforce of “A Christmas Carol.” This family friendly production is brought to you by current and alumni faculty and students of NECC.
You can enjoy the retelling of this Christmas classic from Dec. 12 through Dec. 15 at NECC’s Haverhill campus.

FOUR: Country music icon and Food Network star Martina McBride returns to Lowell Memorial Auditorium stage this Saturday for her yearly The Joy of Christmas performance — a mix of classic hymns and big band swings that brings fun for the whole family and gets everyone in the holiday spirit!
You can see this show on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m.
FIVE: Patty Larkin redefines the boundaries of folk-urban pop music with her inventive guitar wizardry and uncompromising vocals and lyrics. Acoustic Guitar hails her soundscape experiments while Rolling Stone praises her evocative and sonic shading. She has been described as a riveting, hypnotic and drop-dead brilliant performer.
On Dec. 14, Larkin will be performing at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts at 8 p.m.
SIX: Liam and Mickey Spain are second generation singer/songwriters from the mill town of Manchester, N.H. Raised in a household of musicians, Mickey and Liam’s love for music truly manifested when they began performing as a duo appropriately named The Spain Brothers in the early ’90s. Mickey’s rich baritone voice and Liam’s mastery of stringed instruments quickly earned them a loyal following. Now, decades later, the duo have returned and will be playing at the Palace Theatre on Dec. 14, at 7 p.m.
SEVEN: In anticipation of the Christmas Day release of the “Little Women” movie, the Town of Concord will be celebrating Little Women Week from Dec 15 through 22, 2019. The week will feature events themed around Louisa May Alcott while also celebrating her book and creative legacy.
Throughout the course of the week, the town of Concord, museums and local businesses will host a variety of special events for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Find a complete schedule at ConcordMA.gov.
EIGHT: “America’s Got Talent” finalist Jackie Evancho, who stunned judges and audiences alike with her various, on-air performances, will be playing at Lexington’s Cary Memorial Hall on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m.
