Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 11/28/19
ONE: Based on the beloved 1947 Christmas movie classic and the novel of the same name, “Miracle on 34th Street” finds the charming Kris Kringle touching lives and making magic as a Macy’s department store Santa. But not everyone is charmed, and those who believe in him the least might need him the most.
You can see Greater Boston Stage Company‘s (GBSC) live rendition of this classic Christmas story from Nov. 29 through Dec. 6.
For a complete listing of showtimes, visit GBSC’s site here.
TWO: A Funeral for Small Business is a celebration of the contributions of small businesses and an opportunity to set your intentions to shop locally this holiday season.
On Nov. 29, from 12 to 5 p.m., Mill No. 5 invites you to support small businesses and local heroes who continue to bring vitality to our community. Explore two floors of independent makers, designers and purveyors who have great, local products that are perfect for the holiday season.
THREE: Gary Hoey’s annual “Ho Ho Hoey Rocking Holiday Tour” has become a tradition with radio stations and families coast-to-coast. It’s a must see show for adults and kids alike.
Hoey has been a driving force behind instrumental rock Christmas music since 1995 after his version of “The Twelve Days Of Christmas” hit the airwaves with its crunchy guitars and metal flavor.
Gary Hoey will be visiting the Blue Ocean Music Hall this Friday at 8 p.m.
FOUR: This Saturday, be a part of the 10th annual holiday shopping tradition that brings together communities in support of their favorite small businesses.
Ten businesses are banding together to make local shopping more fun this weekend. They will be handing out free tote bags to the first customers who visit their stores Saturday morning as a gesture of saluting people who, by shopping local, are supporting local businesses on Small Business Saturday.
Pick up a coffee at the corner shop, grab lunch at a local spot or buy a new bag from your neighborhood boutique. It’s all happening in downtown Newburyport this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
FIVE: More than 10,000 spectators line the downtown streets of Lowell each year in anticipation of Lowell’s annual nighttime City Of Lights Holiday Parade.
This signature City of Lowell event brings a contingent of high-stepping marching bands, fabulous holiday-themed floats, spectacular performance groups and local personalities.
Join the fun on Nov. 30, starting at 4:30 p.m.
SIX: This Saturday, Newburyport Brewing Co. will be hosting Exeter’s David Corson, a rising artist and acoustic guitarist in the regional singer/songwriter scene.
Stop by for a night of locally brewed craft beer and live music from 5 to 8 p.m.
SEVEN: Grab your friends and unleash your inner artist at Juliano’s Original Paint Nite. You’ll go from a blank canvas to a masterpiece of your own with plenty of laughs along the way.
Instruction is provided by an expert host, so no experience is required, and everything you need is supplied. Grab your friends this Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m., to paint, plant, tinker, build and explore your inner artist.
EIGHT: Methuen Memorial Music Hall will be hosting “A Merry Music Hall Christmas” this Sunday. Starting at 3 p.m., the hall will be filled will classic holiday music performed by veteran trumpeters Robinson Pyle and Greg Gettel.
