Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 8/22/19


ONE: Join Haverhill Chamber of Commerce for their Country Night on the Boardwalk, featuring the Annie Brobst Band. Enjoy one of New England’s most sought after and awarded artists in New England for a rousing night of music along the river. The Annie Brobst Band will be performing from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harbor Place Plaza this Friday. Admission is free.


TWO: Looking for something to do on a Thursday night? Haverhill’s 2019 Restaurant Week, the 7-day-long celebration of local dining, kicks off today, August 22, with The Longest Table Fundraiser. The fundraiser will take place at Wingate Steet in Haverhill and will feature foods from many local caterers.

The Longest Table benefits L’Arche Boston North, a community where people with developmental disabilities and those who assist them live together as family, sharing daily activities and creating a home together in mutually transforming relationships of kindness and friendship.

THREE: Will she eat the poison apple? Will true love prevail? Join Palace Theatre to see “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” live on stage tonight, August 22. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. 

FOUR: If Snow White isn’t your thing, check out “Billy Elliot: The Musical” at Firehouse Center for the Arts this Thursday. Set in a northern English mining town against the background of the 1984 miners’ strike, “Billy Elliot” is the inspirational story of a young boy’s struggle against the odds to make his dream come true. The musical will be showing at 7 p.m.

FIVE: “The Tribute to Sir Elton John” by Jeffrey Allen has great music, outrageous costumes, a sing-a-long and even a little comedy! Covering over 40 years of Elton John music, don’t miss an unforgettable musical journey showcasing the number one hits of this iconic star. See the show this Friday at the Blue Ocean Music Hall.


SIX: The four Bostonians known as Extreme will be playing at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom this Saturday at 8 p.m. See them play all their classics live for a night of fun on the beach.


SEVEN: The Whistler House Museum of Art has welcomed contemporary quilts of all kinds, colors and subject for their Fiber Fusion Quilt Exhibition. The show will run from August 24 to October 26, 2019. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, August 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Parker Gallery.

EIGHT: Field of Dreams Inc. will be hosting their third annual Family Fun Day event this Saturday at Geremonty Drive in Salem, N.H. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., children can enjoy plenty of fun games, music, food and more!

45th Annual Lebanese Festival, August 30-September 1: The Saint Anthony Church, located in Lawrence, will be hosting their annual Lebanese festival from August 30 to September 1. There will be authentic Mediterranean food and sweets, activities for the children, drinks and entertainment by Amin Sultan and Ensemble.

Blues N Brews Festival, September 7: Enjoy more than 50 brews while listening to 4 local, national and international blues bands. The Blues N Brews festival will take place at JFK Plaza in Lowell, from 2 to 8 p.m.
