Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 8/15/19
ONE: Classic Albums Live specializes in recreating the greatest albums live on stage. Watch them as they perform Queen’s “A Night At The Opera” note for note this Friday at Boarding House Park. The show will start at 7:30 p.m.
TWO: Judy Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs and a firm commitment to social activism. Five decades later, her career is still going strong. Catch her show this Friday at Blue Ocean Music Hall, at 8 p.m.
THREE: The Rockin Daddios, a vocal group known for their audience participation and stage antics, are gaining popularity in New England. See them live this Saturday at The Majestic Studio Theatre; the show starts at 7 p.m.
FOUR: Join Concord Museum for their Women of Concord Walking Tour this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Walk through downtown and focus on the notable women who shaped Concord’s history. The tour highlights famous historical figures as Louisa May Alcott and Margaret Fuller, to those who are less well known, such as Ellen Garrison and Mary Merrick Brooks.
FIVE: Get The Led Out is a group of professional musicians who are passionate about their love of the music of Led Zeppelin. It’s been their mission to bring the studio recordings of “the mighty Zep” to life on the big concert stage. See them live at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom this Saturday, at 8p.m.
SIX: Highlighting the single most enduring icon in American history, Medieval to Metal: The Art and Evolution of the Guitar, explores all aspects of the world’s most popular instrument. Learn about the guitar’s history from the Middle Ages to now. This provocative installment will be taking place at the Currier Museum this Sunday, from 2 to 3 p.m.
SEVEN: Enjoy fresh, local food in a friendly at the center of Lowell. Every Sunday, from 11 am to 3 pm, discover the hallways of Mill No. 5 filled with local vendors featuring farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan bread and pastries, locally sourced meat and eggs, and handmade craft goods. This week, Anneliese Riedel will be playing on the Hi-Hat stage to accompany the vibrant atmosphere of Mill No. 5’s farmers market.
EIGHT: Join a refuge ranger for a behind the scenes tour of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge this Sunday, at 1 p.m. The tour will present an up close and personal look at the refuge through the multiple lenses of the cultural history of Plum Island and the Great Marsh, native wildlife and their habitats, and the role of refuge management in the conservation of these precious natural resources.
