Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 8/8/19


ONE: Utilizing over a decade of steady performing, Dirk Quinn Band has developed a unique and progressive style – one that appeals to a wide variety of music listeners with fans ranging from the jam band hippies to the jazz snobs. Catch the show this Friday at the Palace Theatre, at 8 p.m.


TWO: The Firehourse Center for the Arts will be showing Billy Elliot: The Musical this Friday at 8 p.m. Follow Billy’s journey as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and community… and changes his life forever

THREE: Explore the activism and debate around women’s suffrage at the Concord Museum this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4p.m. “Art and Action for Suffrage: Women’s Suffrage Turns 100 Family Program” allows participants to examine the variety of printed materials from both sides of the debate. Through close-looking and thinking routines, participants will determine what makes effective and convincing propaganda.


FOUR: Join Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce for a free workout on the boardwalk this Saturday at 8 a.m. Sponsored by the Haverhill Medical Office of Anna Jaques Hospital, each week highlights a local gym or studio. This week’s workout is located at The Compound in Haverhill

FIVE: See comedian Tom Segura this Saturday, at 10 p.m., in Hampton Beach’s Casino Ballroom. Tickets are selling fast, so be sure to take advantage of this hilarious evening out quickly.

SIX: Join the Currier Museum of Art for their “Music and Mimosas: Brunch at the Currier” event. Starting at 10 a.m., attendees will enjoy a delicious brunch, cocktails, specialty coffees and accompanying musical entertainment.


SEVEN: The Hal McIntyre 14-piece Orchestra brings back the classics of singer Frank Sinatra. Join them this Sunday at the Maudslay Arts Center, starting at 2 p.m.


EIGHT: The Righteous Brothers, with new member Bucky Heard, will be performing at the Cary Memorial Hall this Sunday, at 3 p.m.

Groundwork Lawrence’s Greenway 5k

The Greenway 5k is an annual event hosted by Groundwork Lawrence to promote health, fitness and open spaces. This event aims to support members of the community in their efforts to lead healthier lifestyles and encourage walking and running along the Spicket River Greenway.
