Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 8/1/19
ONE: Thanks to the Highland Street Foundation, the Concord Museum is open FREE all day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Experience Concord’s history through object-based and hands-on activities. All activities are on a first come, first served basis and will run rain or shine.
TWO: Bang on a Can and MASS MoCA announce the launch of a new, three-day music festival called LOUD Weekend, presented for the first time from Friday, August 2 through Sunday, August 4, 2019, at MASS MoCA in North Adams, located in the Berkshire mountains of western Massachusetts. Dozens of concerts will take place in the museum’s vast galleries and throughout its stunning collection of indoor and outdoor performing arts venues over the three-day period.
THREE: In partnership with Entropy Theatre and the Prescott Park Arts Festival, the Firehouse Center for the Arts presents a musical based on the well known and beloved cult classic “The Rocky Horror Show.” Shows will be taking place this Friday and Saturday at 11:59 p.m.
FOUR: Join Tuscan Kitchen Salem for their Dueling Piano Dinner Show this Saturday, from at 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The evening will include a three-course dinner coupled with a night of music entertainment. Dueling Pianos is an all-request, rock-and-roll party where guests pick the playlist and two top piano entertainers collaborate to bring forth an interactive night of singing, laughing and dancing. From Billy Joel to Bon Jovi, Britney Spears and Bruno Mars, nothing is off-limits.
FIVE: The League of NH Craftsmen will be hosting the 86th Annual Craftsmen’s Fair from Saturday, August 3, to Sunday, August 11, at the Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury, N.H. As the state’s premier summertime event – and one of the oldest craft fairs in the nation – there will be more than 25,000 visitors on hand to enjoy the work of hundreds of the League’s juried craftsmen, unique live demonstrations, one-of-a-kind crafts, innovative exhibitions, delicious food and live bands.
SIX: Join the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce for free workouts on the boardwalk every Saturday in July and August, at 8 a.m. Sponsored by the Haverhill Medical Office of Anna Jaques Hospital, each week highlights a local gym or studio. This Saturday’s workout will take place at Cedardale Health & Fitness
SEVEN: Lori McKenna returns to Cary Memorial Hall with the accompaniment of a full band this Saturday, at 8 p.m., for a night of heartfelt and honest country. Rising country star Hailey Whitters will be featured as McKenna’s opening act.
EIGHT: In just three short years, Moscow-based Leonid & Friends have blown the minds of legions of fans with their uncanny ability to capture the spirit, musicality and fire of American supergroup Chicago. Catch the tribute group this Saturday at the Plymouth Memorial Hall. The show starts at 8 p.m.
