Eight Great Things To Do This Weekend – 7/10/19


ONE: Colbie Caillat and Gone West will be performing at Lowell Summer Music Series this Friday. Check out this Nashville-based singer/songwriter at 7:30 p.m.

TWO: Maudslay Arts Center (MAC) will be presenting blues rock group Bobby Keyes Trio on Saturday at 7 p.m. as well as jazz vocalist Donna Byrne on Sunday at 2 p.m. If you’re looking for some great jazz, rock and bluesy live music, these are the shows for you.


THREE: This Saturday, catch the debut of Lowell Storytelling at the Richard and Nancy Donahue Family Academic Art Center of MCC. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will feature will feature six local residents sharing a true story of each of their lives in Lowell. Read all about it over at Richard Howe’s blog.

FOUR: From this Saturday to July 28, the Ayer Loft‘s Exploring Color event will feature artist-residents who will be showing off their latest creations including, art, sculpture, photography, pottery and more.

FIVE: The annual Gathering of the Thoreau Society will take place from July 10 to 14 in celebration of the 202nd birthday of Henry David Thoreau. This year’s theme is “Engineering Thoreau: Nature, Technology and the Connected Life.” Visit ThoreauSociety.org for more information on the schedule for this great weekendlong  event.

SIX: The Blue Ocean Event Center will be hosting a performance by Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes this Saturday at 8 p.m. Check out this show to enjoy a night of rock and blues-filled fun.

SEVEN: If you haven’t been to the Farm Market at Mill No. 5, now’s your chance this Sunday starting at 11 a.m. Vendors include Mill City Grows, OffBeet Compost and more.

EIGHT: This Sunday, The Hearing Room presents Jazz Jam. This event features traditional jazz and popular tunes played on piano. Swing by to enjoy some great music, and if you feel inspired, participation is encouraged!
