Eight Great Things to Do This Weekend – 5/2/19

ONE: Groundwork Lawrence is recruiting 1,200 volunteers for the organization’s biggest community event of the year on Saturday! Groundwork Comcast Cares Day is a citywide cleanup event that happens every year. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to help out – as are for-profit, nonprofit and community organizations who can pitch in as groups. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Campagnone (North) Common.

TWO: Two exciting exclusive events will be held at Royal Jewelers this weekend: first, the David Yurman Introduction of the Spring/Summer Collections for both women and men will take place on Friday and Saturday. Then, on Saturday only, you’ll have the opportunity to attend the only 2019 Tudor Watch Event in New England.

THREE: This Friday from 7 to 10 p.m., it’s Seaglass Sinatra Night featuring Joey Canzano, the self-proclaimed “Man of Many Voices,” performing all your favorite hits from “Ol’ Blue Eyes,” Dean Martin, Elvis Presley and more. Sip martinis in Seaglass Restaurant & Lounge’s swingin’ lounge as you sway to the music of some of the most iconic singers of all time.

FIVE: You can donate books and other media toward Pollard Memorial Library’s Annual Book Sale starting this Saturday.

FOUR: At Image Theater’s Femme Film Festival, attendees will be able to view original short films by some of New England’s most talented women filmmakers starting at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Whistler House Museum of Art. (A special preview short film by Lowell’s Karla Sorenson will be shown on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.!)

FIVE: Starting this Saturday and running every Saturday through June 15, Friends of the Pollard Memorial Library will be accepting donations of books and other media in preparation for their big Annual Book Sale from June 20 – 22. Drop off your contributions on the ground floor of the Pollard Memorial Library in Lowell between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

SIX: Chic Consignment is celebrating its 10th birthday with an All Day 10-Year Anniversary Event this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a ton of fun stuff going on all day – such as the cocktail party from 5 to 7 p.m. with a gorgeous Louis Vuitton handbag raffle.

SIX: It’s time for KidsFEST in Haverhill again, and the festival is moving back to Washington Street.

SEVEN: The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce has announced that this year’s KidsFEST is moving back to Washington Street. The annual event will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or Sunday at the same time in case of rain). Free and open to the public, this year’s event continues the tradition of bringing art, music and kid-friendly activities to downtown Haverhill while highlighting local businesses and organizations.

EIGHT: The first Newburyport ArtWalk of the year returns on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a new look, some new participants and many favorite local artists on hand. The public is invited to take a self-guided tour of the Newburyport galleries and partner sites in a casual reception environment.
