A&E Highlight – Points of Light Lantern Festival

Joseph Girard-Meli on April 26th, 2019

3rd Annual Points of Light Lantern Festival
Ecumenical Plaza, Lowell
May 4

Points of Light is a spring celebration of unity and renewal that brings together the traditions of Lowell’s diverse cultures. Leading up to the event, people throughout the city decorate their lanterns with art, prayers, memorials and messages.

While everyone waits for the main draw of the evening — launching the lanterns into the water — local organizations sell traditional ethnic foods while members of Lowell’s diverse cultures perform music and dance. As the sun sets on the city, the lanterns are released onto the Western Canal, creating hundreds of floating points of light. A dance party closes out the evening!
