WELLNESS TIP OF THE WEEK

How to Identify and Manage Rosacea

By Rebecca Moy, BSN, RN of Solace Wellness Center & MedSpa

Rosacea is a common skin disorder affecting 16 million Americans. Do you or a loved one have any of the following characteristics?

  • Tendency to blush or flush easily
  • Visible blood vessels around the cheeks and nose
  • Burning or stinging sensation
  • Dry and flaky skin
  • Small, red, pus-filled bumps
  • Thickened skin, usually found around the nose

Managing rosacea can include a variety of treatments ranging from oral antibiotics, topical creams, intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy as well as regular home skin care. Those with rosacea should avoid known triggers that bring on symptoms such as heat, stress, alcohol and spicy foods.

Professional and home care for rosacea must include products that don’t irritate the skin. Bio-organic products have proven to be effective! At Solace, we customize each guest’s professional skin care regime and services and use the gentlest bio-organic skin care products that can be combined with our IPL therapy.
