Eight Great Things to Do This Weekend – 3/28/19

ONE: A Haverhill native turned Nashville resident, singer-songwriter Jillian Cardarelli has already shared the stage with some of country musics biggest acts including Kenny Rogers, Reba McEntire, Trace Adkins and more. The show will be held at Belleville Congregational Church on Saturday at 7 p.m.

TWO: In the hysterical comedy “Noises Off!”, Lloyd Fellowes is the director of a theatre company. He’s desperately trying to get his production together, despite the best efforts of the cast, the crew, and Lady Luck. Quite often, what’s happening on stage is nothing compared to what’s happening backstage. See the show at the Firehouse Center for the Arts on Friday or Saturday at 8 p.m., or Sunday at 3 p.m.

THREE: Celebrate the season at the Spring Castleberry Fair, taking place at the Shriners Auditorium this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to juried artisans from all over New England, the event will also feature a food sampling extravaganza.

TWO: The hilarious play “Noises Off!” will be performed at the Firehouse Center for the Arts this weekend.

FOUR: The UMass Lowell Asian Club Council will hold Asian Night 2019: The New Light on Saturday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the college’s Durgin Hall. The event will highlight performances of various Asian cultures by UML students and other Lowell based performers.

FIVE: “Fresh Perceptions,” a concert by the Lexington Symphony, features three works that take a fresh look at the music of their time. The featured works are Prokofiev’s “The Prodigal Son,” Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto, Op. 64” and Franck’s “Symphony in D minor.” Catch the concert at Cary Hall on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. A pre-concert conductor talk will be held at 6:30 p.m.

SIX: Fresh off an amazing performance at the 2018 Bread and Roses Festival, El Taller is excited to be bringing the incredible Oompa back to Lawrence along with a lineup of talent from the Merrimack Valley for “And Still We Fight: A Night Of Hip Hop And Spoken Word” on Saturday from 7:30 to 11 p.m. All proceeds will go towards the festival and putting together similar events in the future.

EIGHT: BareWolf Brewing’s Pups, Pints & Pretzels is a puppy adoption event with tasty pretzels to snack on and plenty of other fun things to do!

SEVEN: Love to run? Hate to run? RiverWalk Brewing has the road race you’ve been training all year for — a grueling 0.0K Road Race at noon on Sunday to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital! There will be awards for race winners, the best-dressed attendees and cash prizes for cornhole tournament winners. Plus, lots of music, a 50/50 raffle and many chance to win items… but most importantly beers, food and fun!

EIGHT: At BareWolf Brewing’s Pups, Pints & Pretzels on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., there will be pups available for adoption, the best pretzels around and a great raffle including some Fat Boyfriend gear and a training gift certificate with Pawsitive Steps!
