A&E Highlights – Monty Python’s “Spamalot”
Monty Python’s “Spamalot”
Lowell Memorial Auditorium
The winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Monty Python’s “Spamalot,” is headed to the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in winter 2019. Self-described as having “lovingly ripped off” the film classic “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” the cheerful comedy romp was penned by legendary Python member Eric Idle and film composer John Du Prez.
“Spamalot” tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail … with a few deviations from the traditional story. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen, and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons the show ran for over 1,500 performances during its initial run.
