Eight Great Things to Do This Weekend – 2/7/19

ONE: According to Northern Essex Community College chemistry professor Mike Cross, chocolate might just be the “perfect indulgence.” Join Cross at the Hollis Social Library on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. as he shares his knowledge, as both a chemist and a passionate lover of chocolate, during “Chocolate: The Perfect Indulgence with the Chocolate Doctor.” Who knows? Maybe you’ll learn some new excuses for your chocolate habit.

TWO: Check out the 404 International Festival of Art & Technology on Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the University Gallery at UMass Lowell. The festival unites art with technology in an environment where artists can engage with the community. Works featured include a robot that reads the Twitter feed, a virtual reality tour of a unique Chinese monastery, electronic music compositions, a video mirror and computationally created images.

THREE: Browse the custom bike show, chat with custom bike builders and see hundreds of new and used motorcycles at the Northeast Motorcycle Expo at Shriners Auditorium on Saturday or Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Whether you’re in the market to purchase a new bike or just want to browse, have a drink and listen to the live band, there’s enough at the expo for a full day of entertainment.

THREE: Imagine riding off into the sunset with your favorite bike as you browse the wares at the Northeast Motorcycle Expo.

FOUR: The Burlington Parks & Recreation Department’s 2019 Winter Carnival will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Join them for a chili cook off, scavenger hunt, sledding, marshmallow roasting and more.

FIVE: The relationship between Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms and the woman they both loved, Clara Schumann, has been called the greatest love triangle of all time. Mistral Music’s “Devotion, Desire and Delirium” concert at Andover’s West Parish Church on Saturday at 4 p.m. presents works from all three of these brilliant minds.

SIX: Western Avenue Studios’ “Lovesick: A Valentine’s Pop-Up Market & Psychic Fair” on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. has a little bit of everything: psychics, mediums, palm readers, tarot card readers, Valentine’s Day shopping, Navigation Brewing and – last but not least – the Empanada Dada food truck with a full lineup of delicious Cuban food!

SIX: Peer into your future at Western Avenue Studios’ “Lovesick: A Valentine’s Pop-Up Market & Psychic Fair.”

SEVEN: WWE NXT is headed back to Lowell for a one-night-only event packed with live action! Catch the likes of NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler and more at Lowell Memorial Auditorium from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

EIGHT: Lowell National Historical Park will host “Lowell Talks: LGBTQ History,” a community conversation on how the Lowell LGBTQ community has historically and still actively helps shape the Spindle City, on Sunday at 2 p.m.
