Eight Great Things to Do This Weekend – 12/13/18
ONE: Lowell Memorial Auditorium will host the latest stop of the Not So Silent Night Tour featuring Phil Vassar and Lonestar on Saturday at 8 p.m. The artists will perform a selection of hits and holiday favorites, including a brand new Christmas song they wrote together.
TWO: On Friday, get your weekend off to a good start by listening to the smooth sounds of live jazz music by Ed Antonelli while having a delicious meal at Stonehedge Hotel and Spa’s NoLo Bistro and Bar.
THREE: At The Stevens Estate’s Fourth Annual Holly Days Open House on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., participants will enjoy self-guided tours of the beautifully decorated mansion rooms, complimentary refreshments and visits with Santa.
FOUR: The Brush Art Gallery & Studios has two fun holiday events this weekend. On Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., stop by to enjoy a selection of complimentary soups while you browse the gallery’s collection of art for holiday gifts at their Soup and Shop Event. Then, on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Sugar and Spice Shopping Event will bring the gallery’s studio artists on hand to explain their inspiration as you shop and nibble an array of homemade cookies.
FIVE: Mill City Cheesemongers will host a Mead Tasting on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. featuring House Bear Brewing of Newburyport. The brewery makes a variety of dry, nuanced meads and will show off some favorites that pair well with cheese.
SIX: On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., 20 artisans, craftsmen, creatives and merchants are coming together to throw the first ever People’s Small Mall at UnchARTed! Browse goods from local folks to get in the last of your holiday shopping while enjoying a slice of the venue’s delicious pizza.
SEVEN: Eat, drink and be of good cheer with your friends and neighbors, sing carols and win raffle prizes at the Whittier Home & Museum in Amesbury during their Holiday Open House on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Readings of Whittier’s seasonal poetry and a presentation by artist, calligrapher and writer Susan Kapuscinski Gaylord will round out the evening’s merriment.
EIGHT: Celebrate the holidays with the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra at their Family Holiday Concert and Silent Auction Fundraiser at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday featuring many instrumental and choral favorites. Need a last-minute holiday gift? Show up at 1:30 p.m. to get in some silent auction bids.
