WELLNESS TIP OF THE WEEK
Temperatures and Leaves May Be Falling, But Don’t Forget to Go Outside
If you’re one of those people who has a particular resistance to going outside during the cold, after dark or both, autumn is likely the time of year you really struggle to build time outdoors into your schedule. Temperatures are already going way down, the days are getting shorter, and there’s already a time crunch with work, errands and family business going on (things that tend to get more intense during this time of year, with vacations and beach days firmly in the past). Still, a dearth of time beyond the walls of your home or office can make the heavy stress of the busy season even heavier — so even if it’s just a brisk walk for 15 minutes to a half an hour, try to get outside at least once a day.

Anthony Bourdain’s Philosophy: “Your Body is Not a Temple, It’s an Amusement Park”
It’s hard to believe Anthony Bourdain has already been gone for three months — but his work lives on in his writing and TV appearances, and Quillette writer Jenai Engelhard has penned a beautiful piece on Bourdain’s resistance to the often-oppressive nature of diet culture. “Bourdain would say: focus on the people around the table, wherever on the planet that table is, and eat what you are damn well served,” she writes. “In short, prefer people to the pursuit of that otherworldly glow, the attempt to lengthen your telomeres, and the dubious ‘achievement’ of living to be 110.” Read the full article here.
