All proceeds benefit area nonprofits that serve children.
FIVE: Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnic lunch along to the Newburyport Riverfront Music Festival, a free show open to the public on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at Waterfront Park. Headlining this year: Barenaked Ladies, known best for their hits “One Week” and “If I Had $1000000.”
SIX: Talented Celtic music performers Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy will be at Boarding House Park as the penultimate show of the Lowell Summer Music Series on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The fiddling husband-and-wife duo have collaborated with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, bluegrass star Alison Krauss and more.
SEVEN: Popular comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias will bring his brand of observational, self-deprecating humor to the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom on Sunday at 5 p.m.
EIGHT: Test your financial acumen and win prizes at Merrimack Valley Credit Union’s Bar Trivia event at The Gateway Pub from 8 to 10 p.m. on Thursday. The trivia event is one part of the credit union’s effort to promote its new online application, CashIQ, meant to help young people improve their financial literacy.
EXTRA: The Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness’ 30th Annual Intertribal Pow-wow is a massive celebration of indigenous culture on and around Plug Pond in Haverhill on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9.
