Natural Geisha Coffee Breaks Record for Per-Pound Price at Best of Panama Auction

(via Daily Coffee News) The Lamastus Family Estates has broken the record for the highest per-pound cost of coffee sold at the Best of Panama green coffee auction, blowing past the previous record of $601 per pound with their natural-process Geisha coffee — which sold for a whopping $803 per pound to Taiwan’s Black Gold Coffee Co. “To put some of these numbers in perspective, the New York commodities exchange price — or ‘C’ price — for arabica coffee is trading today at $1.11 per pound,” writes the article’s author, Nick Brown, “which by all accounts would not match the per-pound cost of production in much of the growing world.”
