ONE: Spend all or part of a day outside at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. while trying out a whole bunch of fun, healthy activities at the free Let’s Go Outside! event. Activities include archery target shooting, kayaking, surf fishing, nature photography and bird watching.
TWO: UnchARTed Gallery and Studios is opening its doors to “For Your Entertainment,” an exploration into the tumultuous inner world of mixed-media artist Alexandra Derderian, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. In the exhibit, Derderian navigates the neurotic landscape of her memories through objects and media she’s been unable to let go of throughout her life.
THREE: Singer-songwriter Rhiannon Giddens is the co-founder of the Grammy award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, in which she also plays banjo and fiddle. She’ll be performing a solo show at Lowell’s Boarding House Park on Friday at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Lowell Summer Music Series.
FOUR: Based on the true story of 11 English Ladies Club members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund, “Calendar Girls” is a delightful heartfelt comedy made famous by the hit 2003 movie. See the Greater Boston Stage Company’s version of the show on Friday or Saturday at 8 p.m., or on Sunday at 2 p.m.
FIVE: Celebrate the beginning of strawberries & summer at the Strawberry Festival at Cider Hill Farm! On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., pick your own strawberries and enjoy hayrides, lawn games, live music by The Coalboilers, strawberry cotton candy and more.
SIX: Legomaniacs are invited to attend the Concord Museum’s Family Lego Build on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wright Tavern. Meet Cody Wells, “The Lego Man,” who will bring hundreds of thousands of bricks and lead games and challenges all day long!
SEVEN: Merrimack Street in Lowell will be transformed into a fantasy world for just one day during A Midsummer Dream Downtown Festival. This day and night festival celebrates magic, theatre, art, music and costume for kids and adults on Saturday from noon to 10 p.m.
EIGHT: The Artisan Market at the Mills is a collaboration of the North Andover Farmers Market and the East and West Mills. Each monthly market features local crafters and artisans selling their handmade goods. The next date of this collaborative market is this Sunday at the West Mill from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where you’ll be able to shop home decor, soaps and candles, pet products, knit and sewn items, photography and more.
