A&E Highlights: Cantus – Discovery of Sight
Cantus: Discovery of Sight
Rogers Center for the Arts | March 8
Hailed as “the premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States” by Fanfare magazine, and winner of the prestigious Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence from Chorus America, Cantus is acknowledged around the world for its programmatic versatility, artistic excellence and charismatic personalities.
Light is an integral part of life. It controls our daily habits and cycles to provide nourishment, warmth and protection. Cantus’s “Discovery of Sight” tour revels in the mystery, science and poetry of what it means to truly “see.” Beyond seasoned and much-loved masterpieces such as Richard Strauss’ “Traumlicht,” Franz Schubert’s “Die Nacht” and Eric Whitacre’s “Lux Aurumque,” the program breaks ground with a new commission from Gabriel Kahane.
