Beyond the Brands

Farley’s of Newburyport Offers Unique Shopping Experience. (sponsored)

Owners T.J. Conte and Lisa Burke purchased John Farley Clothiers from former owner John and Linda Allison three years ago and they believe their staff has found a niche in the industry that focuses on and benefits the consumer.

“We are a relationship-based business,” says Farley’s store Manager Anthony Conte, and that’s the key to understanding what differentiates this Newburyport men’s retailer from the big box stores and the internet.

While the shop sells about a dozen unique labels, including Scott Barber, Peter Millar, Raffi, 34 Heritage and Bugatchi, Farley’s has been offering its own line of clothing for the past two years, using fabrics purchased in the United States and overseas. The move is part of an effort to compete with leading brands and offer an original shopping experience that customers cannot find elsewhere.

The Farley’s private label offers casual, fine and formal clothing with a selection of both classic and modern apparel and accessories. The Model 47 shirt, the newest addition to Farley’s private label / made to measure program, is a fine example of the custom line they have been developing. The versatile shirt is tailored to meet the shopper’s size and specifications and is delivered in ten days. Designer Jamie Burns calls it, “The most functional shirt that you’ve ever seen. It exemplifies the level of care and detail you can only achieve through personalized attention.” And it’s already creating a buzz among select, premier Farley’s clients who have been told of the fashion-forward product.

The shirt can be customized with other features, including a button to attach glasses directly to the shirt rather than having to put them in a pocket from which they might fall.
