ONE: Northern Essex Community College professor and Bradford-based artist Marc Mannheimer will show off his latest works in an exhibit called “Firenze Rocks” at the Essex Art Center. The actual exhibit can be viewed any day during the gallery’s regular business hours, but of particular note is the opening reception on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., where you can hear from the artist himself.
TWO: Lowell’s Holy Trinity Parish is holding its 9th Annual Polish Food Festival downstairs in its Parish Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m on Saturday. Traditional Polish food, including homemade pierogi, mushroom soup and kotlety mielone will be on the menu. The festival also includes a multi-ethnic bake table and popular raffle section.
THREE: The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce is bringing great food and activities for all ages to the city’s downtown area. Sound familiar? That’s right — this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., KidsFEST is back in full force on Washington Street. Bring the kiddos and grab a bite to eat, check out the different vendors and catch a competition between the finalists of “Haverhill Idol!”
FOUR: The Treble Chorus of New England will present a concert titled “Americana!” this Saturday at 7 p.m. The performance will take place at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall; tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.
FIVE: Opa! For the second time, a pair of Greek gents are coming all the way from the Mediterranean to perform some of their country’s traditional folk music at The Worthen House. Come see and hear The Return of the Greeks! on Saturday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
SIX: Mill River Winery is offering a complimentary Mother’s Day Wine Flight for every mom brought in to sample the winery’s wares from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Celebrate “mother dearest” with the gift of a little one-on-one time … meaning her and the wine, of course!
SEVEN: Whether it’s brunch or dinner you’re after, few restaurants let you treat your parents to an indulgent meal quite like Cobblestones of Lowell and moonstones. When it comes to Mother’s Day, you better believe that reservations at both locations are already pretty full, so now’s the time to make some if you want to get dear ol’ Mom in for a good time.
EIGHT: She gave you life, and she can take it away … so sate her appetite by taking your mom to Salvatore’s Restaurant in Lawrence this Mother’s Day. The special breakfast buffet runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., but reservations are required and filling up fast, so make yours ASAP!
