Northern Essex Community College Staff Receive National Recognition
Four Northern Essex Community College faculty and staff members were recently named recipients of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Awards for Excellence, a national honor which recognizes outstanding faculty and staff in the country’s community colleges.
This year’s recipients include Donna Felisberto of Newton, N.H., coordinator of student assessment, credit for life learning & high school equivalency chief examiner; Jennifer Jackson-Stevens of Dorchester, program coordinator for respiratory care; Marilyn McCarthy of Andover, professor of college reading, and Stephen Russell of Pepperell, professor of history and government.
Since 1978, the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development has been dedicated to the professional development of faculty, administrators, and staff; and to the continued improvement of teaching and learning, with the ultimate goal of student success.

Greater Haverhill Chamber Holds Networking Event at Harbor Place Residences
This week, the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce hosted a Business after Hours networking event at the new Harbor Place Residences. The Business after Hours event played host to at least 150 people, and tours were given of an apartment to all those interested.
Harbor Place opened in December 2016, giving the Riverfront a new and updated look. This scenic riverfront location offers a mix of 56 workforce and 24 market-rate one, two and three bedroom apartment homes with underground parking and private balconies available on select apartments.

Blackdog Builders Wins Two Gold Contractor of the Year Awards
The Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry awarded Blackdog Builders of Salem, N.H., their 2017 Contractor of the Year Award in the categories of Commercial Project and Residential Exterior.
Blackdog’s work in renovating the renowned Andover Classic Wines transformed one of the city’s iconic and longstanding local businesses into a modern connoisseurs’ retreat, winning the Commercial Project category. Blackdog also won in the Residential Exterior category for their work on expanding the living space of a local resident to enhance their screened-in porch to accommodate more room for entertaining.
“We are honored to be nominated and win not just one Gold Contractor of the Year Award, but two,” commented David Bryan, owner of Blackdog Builders. “We could not have accomplished this feat without our expert design and build staff, our seasoned contractors, and of course, our esteemed clients.”
MOVERS & SHAKERS
Sheila Foster has been announced as the newest addition to Santo Insurance & Financial Services’ experienced team of licensed agents. She began servicing personal lines accounts in March focusing on new business requests. Foster has worked in the insurance industry since 1990 and specializes in servicing property and casualty lines of coverage. Most recently working for Briggs Insurance Agency in Amesbury, and Chase & Lunt in Newburyport prior to that, her professional experience includes service to Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire clients.
