ONE: The Santaland Diaries, a hilarious holiday-themed one-man show written by David Sedaris, will run this Friday and Saturday, plus next Friday and Saturday, at Rogers Center for the Arts, 7:30 p.m. Telling the tale of an aspiring TV writer who takes a job as a department store elf, this crass and subversive comedy offers a different perspective on the holiday season.
TWO: Firehouse Center for the Arts, will recreate a holiday classic as a dance-theater version of A Christmas Carol graces their stage for four shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The production interweaves the traditional script text while incorporating original choreography by Joppa Dance Company.
THREE: Chelmsford Center for the Arts will host the Chelmsford Jazz Band for their 3rd annual Holiday Party Pops, an afternoon and evening of festive holiday music, sing-along, treats and surprises for the whole family. The party kicks off on Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
FOUR: Think you know a thing or two about holiday home decorating? Concord Museum might just make you question your sensibilties on their Holiday House Tour, which takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy viewing seven of Concord’s most beautiful private homes professionally decorated for the holidays by local and Boston-based interior designers.
FIVE: Another annual hometown holiday tradition returns. The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce will take over downtown for their Christmas Stroll, complete with everything from a holiday hat parade to a Christmas tree lighting with Santa himself. Stroll the Shoe City on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m.
SIX: Kids will get a real kick out of the Polar Express Pajama Party & Brunch at the Blue Ocean Event Center on Saturday at 10 a.m. In addition to a reading of the classic “Polar Express” book for kids in their jammies, both children and their parents will be able to enjoy a brunch buffet with omelet and carving stations, muffins and pastries, a cereal and yogurt bar, and more.
SEVEN: Gary Hoey will provide even more festive seasonal tunes at Blue Ocean Music Hall with his annual Ho Ho Hoey Rockin’ Holiday Show on Saturday at 8 p.m. The Boston native will perform guitar-driven rock renditions of holiday hits like “Mr. Grinch” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”
EIGHT: Tuscan Market will hold their 5th annual Christmas Tree Lighting & Visit With Santa on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. First, bring the kids by to take a photo with the big jolly man himself, then enjoy watching the big Christmas tree light up.
