On Thursday, Sept 1, Rep. Brian Dempsey toured the Harbor Place construction project in Haverhill.
The tour, led by Greater Haverhill Foundation member and owner of Gold Leaf Fine Jewelry, Sally Cerasualo-O’Rorke, began at the boardwalk and ended inside the building, where Mayor James Fiorentini, alongside Dempsey, posed with the time capsule that will be laid inside the cornerstone upon the project’s completion. The time capsule includes contributions from Haverhill students, as well as historical photographs and other items.
Currently, construction workers are preparing to build a grass plaza, including a 14-foot fountain, along the boardwalk. Underneath the plaza will be a 149 car parking garage for Harbor Place residents.
Pentucket Bank and Haverhill Community Media have already started fit-up inside the building and there are further plans to build a restaurant or café facing the water. “That’s the idea,” Rep. Dempsey noted, “That Harbor Place will be a catalyst for further development.”
On Sept 23 at 1 p.m. there will be an all-community sneak peak, at which the public will be invited to see the site and learn more about the project. The waterfront project will feature pedestrian walkways, retail and restaurant space, and a UMass Lowell satellite campus.
