Bridal Guide 2010 – Amesbury Sports Park

From the Traditional to the Extreme and Everything in Between at Amesbury Sports Park: When planning a wedding, Amesbury Sports Park might not come to mind immediately, but it is a destination that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Well known as a dynamic winter and summer tubing spot, Amesbury Sports Park took on a new life about three years ago, when the facility benefited from $2 million in improvements. At the same time, the current senior management team came together, boasting over 90 years of cumulative event planning experience. Coordinating a wedding is second nature to this seasoned group, and that expertise is sure to make any wedding, whatever the budget, one that will be remembered.

MaryCarol Fowler, executive vice president at the park prides herself on the team’s commitment to providing a wedding location that has a country club feel without country club prices. The function room inside can accommodate up to 110 guests and was intentionally designed as a “blank slate” in order to allow the bride and groom to convert the space into whatever they want. If you envision an elegant black tie affair or a fun Hawaiian luau, Amesbury Sports Park can make it happen.

In warmer months an outdoor, tented reception is another option where upwards of a 1000 guests can be accommodated. The layout and design is flexible, stylish and comfortably secure from whatever the elements might be.

Though the creation of a traditionally beautiful wedding is perfectly within reach at Amesbury Sports Park, extreme wedding options are also available for the more adventurous. Imagine the bride and groom greeting their guests by way of inflatable tube, or partygoers sharing their enthusiasm with the thrill of a 11-foot, OGO (outdoor gravity orb) traveling 800 feet down a hill.

Meredith Robinson, director of sales, works with wedding clients to ensure that all their needs and requests are met. The team considers even the most difficult request a challenge and will do all they can to make it happen.

The wedding meal is, of course, a critical element of the special day, and the onsite catering at Amesbury Sports Park is first rate. Kevin Jacques, chef and general manager, has worked for Wentworth by the Sea Country Club and Lake Winnipesaukee Country Club, so he knows how to develop exceptional high-end buffets, impressive tropical fruit displays and gourmet menu options customized to suit any budget. The culinary talent at Amesbury Sports Park comes as a pleasant surprise to those who might not expect the potential for five-star cuisine.

A wedding at Amesbury Sports Park is an exciting alternative that will undoubtedly be an event for the memory books.
